How Beloved Hollow works

A quiet place to remember your pet. You cross a bridge, leave a few words and a little treat at their door, and their window stays lit until morning.

What you can do here

  1. Cross the bridge. Write their name on a lantern and walk across. The first time, you walk slowly. After that, one swipe takes you back.
  2. Pick something at the stall. One little treat each day is free. You can also leave their favorite, and pay what feels right.
  3. Stand at their door. Their window lights up when you arrive and stays lit until morning where you are.
  4. Leave a card. Slip it under the door to keep it private, or pin it to the door so passers-by can read it.
  5. Leave the treat on the step. Next time you come, it will have become something else.

What is free

Speaking to them is always free. So is one little treat a day, and lighting a candle at someone else's door.

Who can read what you write

Everything you write is private unless you choose to pin it to the door. A pinned card can be read by people passing by. Letting it appear in search engines is a separate choice, and it stays off unless you turn it on. You can unpin a card or turn search off at any time.

The jar

When you leave their favorite, you decide how much to put in the jar, from $1. What you get is a symbolic, digital treat — nothing is shipped. 10% of what you leave, after refunds, goes to animal shelters and rescue groups in China; payment fees are not taken out of that 10%. We give every season, and show you where it went.

Candles

On the way to their door, you may pass other houses with a card pinned to them. You can light a candle there, for free. It burns for seven days, then it's gone.

Keeping the way back

After your first visit, you're offered their key: your email and a password you choose. With it, you can find their house from any phone — choose "I have a key" on the near shore. Without it, only the phone you used will remember the way.
